Review:
First single off Caustic Grip and SINGLE OF THE WEEK in UK's Melody Maker! Plus a video in good rotation. Iceolate was one of the most important singles that FLA ever did it's also a pretty variable and catchy track so it easily grabs attention on Caustic Grip. But the album and video version is just the short version of the song... here's the single:
Iceolate
This is the extended version, note that it's exclusive to the single. As with all of FLA's extended versions, the extensions are all happening in the instrumental parts. So you can have a way better insight to the sound design and the samples that the track holds. Pretty interesting listen.
Mental Distortion
This is exactly the same track as on Caustic Grip. Not extended.
Iceolate (Dub)
The DUB word usually stands for 'echo-based mix/remix', and so the major differences here are that some sound parts have a new echo effect here. Another thing usual in dubs is that theyre reduced versions of the originals minus some sounds and minus most vocals. So apart from the word 'Iceolate' this is instrumental. Rumour has it that Mike Balch was involved in making this dub - his last track with FLA ever (until Noise Unit's Voyeur album 15 years later).
