Review
01 Equinox - Contact
If you already have the Equinox Holon release then you`ll have this track already. It`s a nicely produced drum and bass style track rather like some of the recent FLA material although the beats are less harsh. I like the subtle strings and synth sequences alot and Greg Reely on the mixing deck is an added bonus.
02 Equinox - Nova Man
A new Moody intro with orchestral strings and some distant flutes opens this track. There`s some programming mastery on display throughout and it`s nicely produced too.
03 FLA - Equilibrium
Well this is supposedly an FLA track but it may aswell be another Equinox or Pro>Tech one. Pretty standard bassline and Drum and Bass beats. The sort of thing Bill and Chris can do off the top of their heads. You`ll recognise some of the samples from other recent material as well as the meandering style.
04 FLA - Transmutation
This makes for a nice change, an FLA track recorded circa Gashed Senses. It makes you realise why you liked FLA in the first place and still, surprisingly, sounds quite fresh.
05 Delerium - Infra Stellar
A delerium track that sounds circa spheres era. Typical of the material recorded at that time. The chanting monks make a distant appearance. Supposedly the Delerium tracks are just remixes but they are also previously unreleased as far as I can tell. (nb. see review 2)
06 Delerium - Desert
Probably recorded at around the same time. Again another nice track that`s worth owning if you`re a big delerium fan.
07 Pro>Tech - Thread-Dead
One from the Pro>Tech album in a remixed form. It`s rather a dull toned down version in my opinion although it does flow better than the original. Perks up a bit towards the end.
08 Pro>Tech - Erotic Onthology
This remixed version manages to improve (slightly) on what was an awful original. Again the whole track is better produced which shows how Bill and Chris are improving.
09 Synaesthesia - The Flood
Quite a slow minimalist track until about the 5 minute mark when some nice beats and strings are introduced. Infact it almost virges on a mild drum and bass track which makes me wonder if this was recorded with the Equinox/pro>tech stuff.
verdict: If you`re looking for a good introduction to the material from the newer sideprojects then this album would be a good bet. However if you already own those albums you`d better just be a die hard collector.
