Review
01 Colombian Necktie (tongue fed edit):
Not much to say, this resembles much the original version. In my opinion, Leeb and Peterson would have done better by leaving the original song on the single and to produce a more different remix. Especially for a song that, for me, is the least impressive of the album.
02 Deadlock:
The expression "techno-industrial" appears more meaningful when you hear this song, each word having its weight. Obviously less melodic than any song on the album, it is a very rhythmic techno song well complemented by loads of non-verbal samples and electro noises, complex but hopefully not saturated, being a brillant bricolage, having some kind of "Caustic Grip" feel to it. I like it a lot, being a real "B-Side", different but not out-of-date, showing another dimension of FLA music, one that differs enough from the album.
03 Electrocution:
Another noisy song that fits well with the previous one. But something agaces me : samples borrowed from "Block Rocking Beats", a song too popular and samples too easily recognizable. Besides this, it is another complex rhythmic noise collage in the same fashion than the previous song, maybe a little more repetitive. Brings coherence to this single.
04 Colombian Necktie - GOArge mix:
I like remixes when they differ enough from the original so they can be seen as new songs having their own identity. This mix belongs to that category. An aggressive goa track that explores the boundaries of that techno style, not as psychedelic or as acid as today's goa stuff we can hear, but not the usual FLA style neither : it is somewhere between both worlds, and this is what makes that song to be original. To be heard.
